A long-acting analogue of amylin, the hormone the pancreas releases alongside insulin at meals to signal fullness, slow stomach emptying and steady blood sugar. A fatty-acid chain lets it bind to albumin in the blood and last a week per dose. On its own it produced around 10% weight loss over 26 weeks in trials, and because it works on satiety through a different pathway from the GLP-1 class it is commonly paired with semaglutide, where the two effects add together. It is one of the amylin analogues at the centre of current obesity research.
