A six-amino-acid growth-hormone-releasing peptide that acts on the ghrelin receptor to trigger a strong pulse of growth hormone from the pituitary. Because it works through the ghrelin pathway it also raises appetite, and it produces a modest rise in cortisol and prolactin alongside GH.
